This week the Dooryard Arts Festival opens its doors for the 6th year running. The festival showcases many art forms including music, visual art, theatre, film, and storytelling. In the beginning, I always imagined Dooryard as "the little festival that could". Now, 6 years, hundreds of musical acts and thousands of guests later, I could not be more excited to participate in the festival by sharing local, New Brunswick wine at the Uncorked Wine Bar at the Picaroons Mainstage.
If you find yourself anywhere near Woodstock, NB this weekend you need to make a point of stopping by. On top of the great showcase of local talent you'll see, Uncorked Tours is hosting Dooryard's first WINE BAR. We'll be offering three white wines and three red wines by the glass. In addition to awesome local wine, you can purchase a re-usable Uncorked Tours part glass. A great, plastic, recyclable, BPA-free wine glass perfect for camping, beach going, or festival-ing.
Since I'm going to be at Dooryard this week, walking tours and winery tours in and around Saint John will be unavailable until July 30th.
In case you haven't been to the Dooryard Arts Festival, here's a selection of photos from the past few years. Hope to see you in the Dooryard!
dooryard \'dor-yard\ n - The exterior area of a home surrounding the most commonly used entryway, typically the driveway area; "Buddy does a good job of plowin' out th' dooryard."A logical extension of "barnyard," "back yard" and "front yard," it is likely that this compound word grew out of a necessity to distinguish working areas from living areas. In a practice common to the region, homes were attached to barns and other out-buildings; dooryardidentifies the exterior area of a home not given over to farming. A household word in the County, dooryard is seldom heard elsewhere.
At Uncorked Tours we're all about sharing the fabulous wine, beer and spirits being produced in the Province of New Brunswick.
It is my pleasure to share with you the great food and drink being produced here in NB, as well as the awesome experiences you can have while living here or visiting the province.
May you always have good wine in your glass and friends to share it with.
