Turkey dinner wine
Thanksgiving is right around the corner, so I decided now is the time to share my NB wine pics that will go great with your turkey dinner. If you live within driving distance of one of our fabulous wineries, get out there for a beautiful Saturday or Sunday drive this weekend and pick up some local wine.
There are plenty of other delicious local wines that you can have with your turkey dinner, so make sure you sample whatever interests you. Don't let yourself be trapped into believing only white wines can be served. Let your taste buds make the decision for you.
As an extra bonus, you could get all four wine and offer your guests a mini tasting before dinner. Give everyone a tasting card to make notes and let the adventure begin.
Mott's Landing - Prairie Star $17
This Goldilocks wine (not too dry, not too sweet) is refreshing and will go down very well with your turkey and mashed potatoes. It has a slight sweetness that lightens the flavour, and will please those guests that find a dry white wine too crisp.
Dunhams Run - Long Reach $20
This delicious white wine blend is surely going to please your dinner guests. It will nicely offset the sweetness of your carrots and yams, while pleasantly cutting any heaviness in your gravy. Fill you plate!
Gillis of Belleisle - Cranberry Ceilidh $15
A cranberry dessert wine, you might not even want the sauce. On top of being delicious, this wine retains many of the healthy properties of cranberries. Using local honey, this wine is sweetened to a delicious finish. Serve chilled in small glasses for maximum enjoyment.
Winegarden - Dr. Victor McLaughlin $12
The only red wine on my list this year, the Dr. Victor McLaughlin is light in body and retains some residual sweetness. It won't overpower your dinner, and will add a delicious contrast to your meal with it's fruity notes.
Of course I couldn't actually leave this list at four wines. Other favourites are Belliveau Orchard Champagnette, Magnetic Hill Illusions, Gillis of Belleisle Apple Spice, Dunhams Run Hopped Up, McKay's Wild Blueberry Wine (Sweet), and Mott's Landing Frontenac.
Outstanding Business Awards 2013
So much thanks goes to the organizing committee of Saint John Board of Trade's Outstanding Business Awards. These awards are meant to honour entrepreneurs in Saint John at all stages of business. There were many wonderful nominees in all categories, businesses new and those firmly established.
The Passion for Change award was a new award for 2013. It was created to honour a new entrepreneur who has decided to start a business based on passion and hard work. These entrepreneurs are driven by a need to be the best they can be. Uncorked Tours, along with Lauren Galbraith Cleaning and Stefan Ovezea (Shwarma Hut) were the three nominees.
I want to thank everyone who took the time out of their day to vote for Uncorked Tours. I started this business with two main goals in mind. To create employment for myself, and hopefully others down the road, and also to promote the fabulous NB wine and beer we are making right here at home.
Thank you to CBC for sponsoring this award, thank you to Enterprise SJ for putting Uncorked Tours up for nomination, and thank you to the SJ Board of Trade for making this awards ceremony happen.
At Uncorked Tours we're all about sharing the fabulous food, wine, beer & spirits being produced in the Province of New Brunswick.
It is our pleasure to share some of the awesome experiences you can have while living or visiting the province.
