Wine Expo, Holiday Shopping, and Tasting parties

11/11/2013

The Moncton Wine Expo was a great success again this year. There were 83 vendors setup with over 300 wines ranging in price from $10 a bottle to $100+ a bottle. I forgot to make notes as I went through the wines, so all I can do is share the ones I liked the best (denoted by stars in my wine book).

Some stand-outs fro me were:
  • 2006 Gandia Generacion 1 from Vincente Gandia in Spain selling for $39.99.
  • 2009 Sessantanni Primitivo Di Manduria from Farnese Vini Srl in Italy selling for $41.99.
  • 2010 Caymus Zinfandel from Caymus Vineyards in the US selling for $49.99.
  • 2011 Jost Tidal Bay from Jost Vineyards in Nova Scotia selling for $19.99.
  • 2012 Gabbiano Moscato d'Asti from Gabbiano in Italy selling for $18.99.
  •  2010 Trapiche Fincas Las Palmas Malbec from Bodegas Trapiche in Argentina selling for $19.99.
  • 2008 Masi Amarone Costasera Classico DOC from Masi Agricola in Italy selling for $45.99.
Most of these wines were only available for the show, but many of the unsold bottles have now been distributed to liquor stores in Moncton, Fredericton (The Station) and Saint John (Parkway).

There was a small showing of New Brunswick winery products from Verger Belliveau Orchards and Happy Knight Wines. Hopefully, this will increase as our cottage wineries ramp up production to serve a growing demand for high-quality, local wine.

Uncorked Tours will be taking a bus down next year for anyone who missed the show. It's the best way to get there, experience as many wines as you like, and still be home in time for dinner. Please consider joining us!
Uncorked Tours has you covered when it comes to holiday shopping. Tasting parties are still available and are a great way to celebrate with friends.

While the winery tours may be put to bed, consider gift certificates for next year. You can purchase a whole tour, a tasting for 8, or a denomination amount. Consider visiting the wineries during their weekend hours to purchase bottles of wine or wine glasses. And most of all, have a safe and happy holiday season!
